Elected : USSSA New York Hall Of Fame in 2010
Inducted : March 2011, Syracuser, NY
Born in 1939 in Rochester, NY, Fred had a love for baseball right from the start. He could be seen at all times of the day and evening playing ball with his buddies, sometimes in the narrow alleyway next to his house.
He played hardball throughout his school years and after high school played semi-pro for the Rochester Bullets and Ragu Foods. In the early 60's he joined a local slow pitch softball organization and never looked back.
He played on many local teams and when he turned 55 he started playing for a 55+ travel team. He currently plays for the Rochester Legends, 65+ and the New York Statesmen. Fred has been chosen for at least 15 All World Teams and he is the fortunate recipient of 10 World Series Rings. He was elected to the RSSSA Hall of Fame in 2005 in the player category.
Fred is a starter for each team he plays for. His offensive, defensive and running skills make him that rare three dimensional player in senior softball. He routinely bats over 750 at tournaments, can run like the wind and stretch singles into double and also run down balls in the outfield. He still hits the ball out of the park much to the amazement of his opponents. At 71, he has "wheels" even though he is the oldest on his team. He is a team player all the way and has been an asset to every team he's played on.
Fred lives in East Rochester with his wife, Pat, winters in Fort Myers and is fortunate enough to have his 3 children and 6 grandchildren nearby. Life is good!
