Carol Colombo

Elected : USSSA New York Hall Of Fame in 2007
Inducted : March 2008, Syracuse, NY

Carol was introduced to the USSSA in 1969 when she entered a team into the Industrial Management Qualifier for the Eastern States Tournament which was held in Rochester, New York. It was there that she met Al and Frank Ciaccia and Hank Mandara with whom she grew up with for thirty three years in the USSSA Organization.

She helped organize Women Leagues and Qualifying Tournaments in the Rochester Area. When there were Mens Tournaments, She would assist Al and Frank with the brackets and help with the stats, mostly with the Labor Day weekends events.

In 1989, Al Ciaccia appointed Carol as the USSSA Womens Director in Rochester, NY. She coached and Played for Al's Green Tavern Womens Team for 10 years and House of Trophies for 10 years. She also coached the Eastman Kodak's Industrial Womens Softball Team. They were League Champions and won the IMC Tournament in Wilmington, Delaware.

The Al's Green team played in many tournaments, finishing 4th out of 16 teams in the Firecracker Tournament in Louisville, Kentucky. The best trophy that the team won was the Sportsmanship Award which Carol told the team was the higher achievement than winning the tournament.

In 1991 Carol attended the USSSA directors seminar in Petersburg, Virginia. This was a great experience , which helped her to understand more about the USSSA and gave her a better understanding of USSSA duties and responsibilities. She still runs the Women's Hots Classic Softball Tournament, which is in it's 22 year. This is Carol's way to still be active and a part of the game of womens softball.
