Henry was born in Rochester, New York and attended Jefferson High School. He had 1 daughter, Suzanne and 4 sons, Arthur, Thomas, Michael, and Edward with his wife Arlene. Henry passed away in 1992.

Henry was always around the game of softball, but his career made a giant step forward in 1953 when he founded the Industrial Softball League that was comprised of six teams. Then in 1963, the Industrial Management Council (IMC) asked him to coordinate an IMC sponsored league. By 1991, the last year before his death, the league grew to over 1000 men and women representing 51 Industrial teams in the Rochester area.

His leadership was instrumental in placing him to a Board of Directors position with the Eastern States Industrial Championships for 25 years. Henry also served as President of this group as well. Early in his career, in the mid-1960's, Henry's vision and hard work helped to form the Gates Recreation softball leagues. By the mid-1980's, this league was recognized as best in class. He remained as chairman for 25 years and stayed on the Gates Recreation Commission for 30 years. His effects over the years also helped other townships in the county to develop recreation softball leagues. His dedication, leadership and solid performance over the years lead to delivering Recreation Programs for the total enjoyment of many people.

The Mandara family is honored to have Henry in the New York State USSSA Hall of Fame.
