Larry Maxwell

Elected : USSSA New York Hall Of Fame in 2010
Inducted : March 2011, Syracuse, NY

Larry Maxwell has helped players compete since he joined the Central New York Softball Umpires Association in 1981.  He has always been a very active official, having worked over 5,000 games in his career through 2010.  He is also a USSSA Area Director.

In 1989, he became secretary for the CNY Umpires for five years.  After that he took over as Vice-President, serving from 1994 through 2010.  During those years as an officer, he was able to help administrate on countless USSSA tournaments of various classifications, including men’s, women’s, co-ed and youth. For many years, Maxwell coordinated the “City-County” tournament which pitted Syracuse City Rec teams against those from surrounding town and village leagues.

For twelve seasons (1995-2006) he was the league director for the Town of Onondaga. Using only fields without lights, he became a master of scheduling and re-scheduling teams that wanted no part of playing make-up games on alternative nights or weekends.

As part of his duties as an officer for CNY Umpires, Larry is an instructor for the new umpire class every year.  He is proud of the many fine officials he helped start on their USSSA careers.

Larry thanks his wife, Patti and children Luke, Andy, and Maggie for their steady support during his softball career. He is indebted to CNY Umpires officers Dave Kasouf, Frank Titone, Ed Dunn, Mike Fonak, Bob Bonesteel, Gerry Waldon, and Skip Lombardo.  He also thanks EdeanCasey and Nancy Nannofrom the Town of Onondaga Parks and Recreation office.  Play Ball!
