Gail's softball career began at the age of 16, in Syosset, New York, playing for Mickey Norton's Long Island Mice. She compiled copious honors at Ashland University, as a three-sport athlete, and graduated in 1976 with a degree in Physical Education and Health. In 1986, Gail earned the distinct honor of being the first female athlete inducted into Ashland's Hall of Fame.
Gail's softball career spanned an impressive twenty-five years, playing with Hultey's Chasers, Orange Sports, and returning to the Mice in 1985. Not only was Gail recognized as one of the top pitchers in the country, but she also batted over .500 in her career. Gail led her teams to twenty National Tournament appearances, including eight World Series. She was selected to the All-World Team ten times. In 1985 Gail was named Long Island Player of the Year. In 1996, she was inducted into the Long Island Softball of Fame.
Gail is presently the Women's Volleyball Coach at New York Institute of Technology, where the Lady Bears have achieved Seven consecutive appearances in the NYCAC Conference Tournament and five consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
