Jean started her softball career in 1981 playing for the Suffolk County P.A.L. Bullets. From 1981-1985 she played in numerous State and Regional tournaments and was selected to the All-tournament teams multiple times. From 1985 -1995 she played for R.B.I's , 1996-1997 she played with the L.I. Shooters and in 1998 she joined the County Sports Mice/L.I. Tides/L.I. Hurricanes where she still plays today.

Along with playing tournament softball, "Hudie" has been a long time player for the Town of Brookhaven Team Hawkins & Spence. Throughout her career she has played in 16 National Tournaments and been named to the All-tournament Team 11 times. She is a diversified player who has the ability to play all infield positions as well as pitcher, and has a career batting average of .450
