Karen Grew up in Chili, NY and graduated from Churchville-Chili High School in 1985. She earned a B.S. in Food Management at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) in 1990 then returned to earn a M.S. in Food and Nutrition in 1992.
At RIT, she played outfield for 4 years, was named Rookie of the Year in 1987, Athlete of the Week in 1987, 1989, 1990 and MVP in 1989. She remains in the top 10 rankings for triples (season and career), stolen bases, walks and slugging percentage.
After graduating, went on to be Head Varsity Softball Coach at Clearwater High School in Clearwater, FL. She returned to the Rochester area and contacted Duane McCoy to play for Pace Electronics in 1994 - 1996. While playing outfield for Pace, she was lucky enough to play with many talented athletes including Hall of Famer Wendy Bolton and Robbie Johnson.
Karen feel fortunate to be able to continue playing recreation Women’s and Co-ed softball with many gifted sportswomen who have become lifelong teammates and friends. Thank you to all of them for the great memories.
Thanks to her family, her mother who introduced her to the sport and her father who cheered from the bleachers at RIT. A special thanks you to her husband. Mike who has always supported her hobby and held down the fort during games and tournaments. Lastly, to her talented and successful children, Tristan, Chayse and Doyle, thank you for the encouragement to keep playing this great game.
