Mike is a Rochester native, who was a standout athlete at Rush-Henrietta Roth High School. Mike was a two-time Monroe County Player of the year in baseball as well as an All-County basketball player on the back to back Section Five Champion basketball team. He was recognized by the Democrat and Chronicle newspaper as a person to watch in 1982 along with business, community, and civic leaders for his efforts in baseball. Mike chose to attend Ithaca College rather than sign a professional baseball contract out of high school.
The first USSSA softball team he played on was Bubba's Inn (1984), but over the next 20 plus years he has played for Heritage Stove Shop (1987 ' 1990), Pace Electronics (1991 and 1995), Leisure Time Marine (1992-1994, 1997-2000), M&M sports (1996 and 2001), and his MFP Thunder teams since 2003. These teams have won over 20 USSSA NIT, NYS, and Regional tournaments. The 1993 and 1994 LTM teams each finished fifth in the USSSA 'A' World Tournament along with winning the 1994 NSA 'A' World Championship. Mike earned All-World honors each of those years and has been named to numerous other All-Tournament teams. His batting average was over .700 in 7 of the 10 World Tournaments. During a span from 1990-1995, Mike competed on A/AA teams and amassed over 400 Home Runs and 1,000 RBI's. His personal best effort was 1994 when he batted .738 with over 100 HR's and 300 RBI's. One of Mike's favorite accomplishments is hitting home runs on all 10 pitches in the Williamsport Home Run Derby. A feat no one but Mike has accomplished according to derby organizers.
Mike has sponsored, coached, and played on USSSA 'B' and 'C' level teams since 1997. Although many of these teams have won National and State titles, his 2006 team had the best all-around season winning five National, State, and Regional tournaments as well as finishing ninth in the USSSA 'C' and third in the NSA 'C' World Tournaments.
Mike lives in Rochester with his wife Debbie and their two children, Laura and Michael. He is a Senior Vice President for Morgan Stanley. He believes strongly in community involvement, so he serves on the following Boards: Special Olympics New York, SONY Genesee Region Advisory Council Chairperson, SONY Executive Committee, School of the Holy Childhood, R-H Athletic Association, and R-H Alumni Council. He has been the recipient of numerous awards including SONY 'Individual of the Year', M&T Investment Group 'Hall of Fame', Who's Who among College students, Top Ten Volunteer at Morgan Stanley for 2006, and the 'Walk of Fame' on behalf of Special Olympics.
