In 1969, fresh out of high school, Peter was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates as a pitcher. Peter, wanting an education under his belt chose college instead. After graduation from college, he returned home to Rochester, NY and fell in love with the game of Slopitch Softball. With his talent the Castle Insurance team quickly climbed to the top of the 'A' league in the Rochester City League. Peter was instrumental in the merge of the Mazzola Castle team. That merge brought home the USSSA World Championship in 1977.
After the 77 Championship, the Mazzola Castle team tried its hand in joining the Professional Slopitch Softball League. It was in 1980 that Peter was instrumental in leading that team to another World Championship.
With his strong arm and solid glove, Peter was the leader in the Outfield, playing Left Centerfield. He compiled a lifetime batting average of .550 yet with his build (6' 4' 220 lbs.) it was his clutch power hitting that earned him his reputation as the guy you wanted up with 2 outs.
