Elected : USSSA New York Hall Of Fame in 2005
Inducted : April 2006, Ronkonkoma, NY.
Ron has been involved with softball all of his adult life. Besides playing the game for over 30 years, Ron has been in a position, as an administrator of Recreation and Parks for the past 33 years, to promote the great sport as well.
In his first position as Recreation Director on Shelter Island, NY, Ron formed the first team of young adults to compete in the North Fork League, and in their second year went on to win the League title.
Moving to port Jefferson in 1975, Ron was given the task of developing a new Recreation Dept., and then quickly developed both a mens and womens softball program with 15 teams. Seeing the need for an 'older' adult program, Ron was encouraged to create an over 40 program in 1986. This program took off, not only locally, but statewide as well. In 1988 Ron and the village of port Jefferson hosted the first NYS USSSA Masters Championship. Twenty teams soon participated in the annual event, some coming to LI from as far as Syracuse.
In 1990 Ron was appointed as the first NYS Masters Program Director.
