Dan Kelley

Dan was born in 1949 in North Tonawanda, NY. He moved to CNY while attending SUC Oswego where he earned a BA in English Ed and a Masters in Reading Education. Dan taught at Mexico High School and was a Reading Coordinator at Oswego County BOCES.

Dan served as Learning Specialist at LeMoyne College and was a Professor at Onondaga Community College for 37 years.  Dan credits his wife, Lori, and three sons, Tim, Jeff and Jim with supporting his love of playing softball.

Dan is a very good defensive pitcher who does not walk anyone. He is a consistent line drive hitter with good speed. His softball career began in the Oswego County Tavern League where he pitched for Beck Hotel, The Eis House and Buck’s Seasoning.

After moving to Liverpool, Dan pitched for Cannon’s All Stars and Heywards, winning many league titles and local tournaments. Dan then pitched for the Retreat, Plummers, Thunder’s Raiders in the Hopkins Classic A League. During this time he also pitched for many teams in USSSA tournaments, winning the States and Northeast Regional many times and was named to multiple All Tournament Teams.

Currently, Dan pitches at the Major level of Senior Softball for the Syracuse Merchants, who have won numerous National tournaments including 5 World Championships, two Senior Triple Crowns and the SSUSA Senior Tournament of Champions. During this time, Dan has been named best defensive player, MVP 5 times and All World over 25 times.  In the past three years dan also pitched for EPA Finance/New York Statesmen as they won 3 Senior World Cups where he was All World each time.
