Elected : USSSA New York Hall Of Fame in 2019
Inducted : October 2021, Syracuse, NY
Joe was born April 4th 1958. I grew up on the north side of Syracuse with my parents Angelo and MaryLou, along with my sister Angela and brother Anthony. Growing up I participated in many sports including baseball. The game began for me on the fields of LeMoyne Little League and behind Salina Elementary School with my cousins and friends.
After graduation I was lucky enough to play football at the college level at Alfred University, but during the summers I always made time to play softball with my cousins and buddies I grew up with.
The professional part of my life included 30 years of teaching American History, and coaching football my true passion.
During my 25 + years of playing softball I was a player that always played the game with passion and aggressiveness. During those years I was fortunate enough to be on some great teams. In the mid to late 80’s and early 90’ our teams played out of Roman’s Bar and Grill and the Franklin Bar and Grill. As a group we were able to capture many championships in both the Syracuse City League and the Classic League at Hopkins Road. We played in many tournaments and won our share.
Keeping records of batting averages and home runs were not what we were about but playing with passion and being fundamentally sound at all times was. Our team accomplishments are the ones I remember the most along with all the fun and comradely we shared as a team.
I would like to thank all the great friends I was able to make along the way. And to the players I always seemed to butt heads with thanks for pushing me to play harder and more vigor.
