Elected : USSSA New York Hall Of Fame in 2021
Inducted : March 2023, Lake Ronkonkoma, NY.
I began playing local league softball in 1969. I didn’t get involved in travel tournament softball
until joining the Suffolk County Police Department in 1973. I continued playing in the Law
Enforcement softball circuit until 2003. I played with the Suffolk County team in the NYS Police
Olympics for years and also in national Police Tournaments with both the Suffolk County
Softball Team and the NYPD Metro Softball Team.
After turning 50, I played with Major and Major-Plus teams Thermco (South Yarmouth, MA),
Connecticut SportsPlex (N. Branford, CT), New Jersey Hitmen (Red Bank, NY), and currently
Superior Softball (Richmond, VA, winning numerous National and World tournaments.
The one unique experience I had playing was in the 2018 National Softball Tournament in Las
Vegas. I had the opportunity to come to bat in the 3rd inning of a game with bases loaded and hit
a grand slam right-handed. Two innings later, after the wind had changed a bit, I had the
opportunity to bat once more with the bases loaded. I hit a grand slam left-handed. I was told by
tournament officials that no one had ever done that in the history of Senior Softball.
The thing I enjoyed the most during these 50 plus years of playing competitive softball is not so
much the thrill of winning but the opportunity to meet those that enjoy softball as much as I do
and to make friends along the way from all over the country.
