Otto grew up in Mattydale NY where he played Little League coached by his dad. Otto played high school baseball for North Syracuse High School. Otto then entered the Army Reserves and was married to his wife Linda. They have been together for 39 years, have two daughters Cindy and Christine and five grandchildren.
Otto began his softball career in the City Recreation league and started playing in the Hopkins Classic A League in 1975. In 1977 he joined The Comeback Inn Mets in the Classic A League at Hopkins Road. The Hopkins League was reputed to be the strongest league in Central NY and for many years the Mets won the Classic A division. Over the years Otto played ball in various leagues three to four nights a week and tournaments on most weekends.
Otto’s dedication to the game and competitive style frequently helped lead his team to success. Otto’s quick reactions allowed him to become one of the best defensive pitchers of his time. Otto could throw different spins, vary the height of the pitch and was known to pitch behind his back. One of Otto’s main attributes is his sense of humor and love of the game. A tremendous hitter and gifted fielder, Otto is remembered by all that played with and against him as a true competitor. A well-respected batter and one of the premier home run hitters in the area.
Otto’s list of achievements includes numerous tournament MVP'S, league and playoff championships, a supportive family, great teammates, coaches and friendships over the years. Without all of you, he would not be here today. Otto would like to thank all of you for your time and friendship throughout the years.
