Ron Hargrove

Ron is a native Long Islander who grew up in Island Park. He attended West Hempstead High
School and graduated in 1977. Ron participated in football as the team’s quarterback and won
several team championships. He played short stop on the baseball team and ran the 880 relay on
the track team. Ron won the Nassau County Championship at Hofstra College. He then headed
south to Miami’s Biscayne College for baseball. He made the team as a walk on player and was
later awarded a baseball scholarship. He graduated from St. John's University.
 
Ron won 38 MVPs. In 1983, he held the Old Venice Team statistics of .610 BA with 63
homeruns and 195 RBIs. He was the Taylor Brothers New England Championship Rhode Island
MVP in 1987. In that same year he was a member of the “Legends of Softball” team. In the
Superbowl of Softball Burlington N.C., he made the All-World team with Bruce Meade, Billy
Blake, Bill Gatti, Cecil Whitehead and Greg Whitlock. In 1987, Ron also won second place in
the Major Worlds in Parma Ohio.
 
In 2000, Ron was an ASA Hall of Fame inductee with over 1800 homeruns from 1982 to 1999.

In 2013 and 2015 Ron was the two-time Manager of the Year Major Championships.
In 2014 he won the Villages Championship winner with Talon Wealth Management. He hit a 3-
run walk off homerun with Jose Canseco and Ozzie Canseco on base in front of him after an
intentional walk to Ozzie. He was team leader with 7HRs, 28 RBIs and .864 batting average.
In 2016 and 2017, he won Offensive Player of the Year.
In 2018 he won Defensive Player of the Year.
In 2019 in Dalton, Georgia SPA Worlds, he han a 1,000 batting average.
