Started my career in 1980. Team name Smithtown Auto Parts, league 10 Smithtown Sunday mornings. We went 18-2 and cruised through the playoffs to win the league. We went to league 1 Sunday mornings to have great battles with a lot of veteran teams. It was a great learning experience. We did so well there that we were offered a spot in league 1 at night. We played there for many years.

We won the Sam Sperling memorial tournament early in the 1980’s. Sam was a beloved scorer for the recreation department.

1983-1993- We won at least 1 USSSA D qualifier tournament each and every year. We always went to the Northeast Regional tournament all of those years.

1994- I made probably my best team. I made it out of all veteran players, and we started off the year winning NIT tournament in Maryland qualifying us for the World USSSA C Tournament in Brookhaven.

We continued our winning ways that years with winning the Bud Light Challenge on Long Island qualifying for the Bud Light National in St. Augustine Florida in October.

We won so many tournaments that year that we were ranked top 10 in the country all year by the USSSA.

Went to the Bud Light in October and finished 3rd in their national.

1994 was also a special year because we were offered a spot in the Brookhaven Majors. A league that was the best in the northeast. We battled Gas Heaven, SCB for years among others. The team’s name was Schuberts.

1995- a new team name Investors Associates. We won the NYS Coors Light Challenge and $10,000 dollars. No team in New York has ever won that much money and that record still holds today.

From 1995-2001 we won a qualifier for the ASA C Nationals every year. We went every one of those years to a National. We went to Florida, Georgia, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Alabama, Texas and Maryland. We won so much during those years that the ASA director called me and asked me to pick the ASA player of the year from my team because we were the best team in the region.

The last years of the Majors in Brookhaven we played Gas Heaven in the playoffs. We beat them to play SCB in the finals.

We won against SCB to be the Champs in the last years of the Majors. The team’s name when we won the Majors was TEAM DAWG!
