Marlen Floor first started playing softball in 1972.  The 1st team had 4 Palermo brothers, cousin Lou DiMarco and several neighborhood friends.  Marlen Floor softball teams played for the next 27 years.  The team won over 1500 games and over 70 tournamentsin that time span.

At one point, seven Palermo brothers (Gary, Phil, Ron, Rick, Mark, Kurt and Jeff) and 2 cousins (Lou and Mike DiMarco) played on the team with our father Phil as sponsor and uncle Jack as coach.  Marlen Floor was always about family and friends.  We played together as a team because we were family.  We also knew how to play all aspects of the game.  Our defense was second to none, we took the extra base and we rarely made mistakes.

Marlen Floor played Class A, Class B and Class C in USSSA softball.

The team played in USSSA world tournaments in Louisiana, Texas, California, Florida, Colorado, Maryland, Michigan and Nevada.  Marlen Floor finished in the top 5 several times and finished 2nd in two of the world tournaments.  Marlen Floor was also New York State Champions several times.

Major contributors to the success of Marlen Floor were Rocky Reitano, Greg Schuber, John and Kevin Fitzgerald, Gino Nitti, Todd Rath, Todd Newman, Greg Meagher, Rob Snedden, Mike Shoniker, Paul Henshaw, Frank Masters, Gary Lamb, Jim Cumella, Rich Champlin and Tim Zanni.
