Elected : USSSA New York Hall Of Fame in 2024
Inducted : March 2026, Lake Ronkonkoma, NY.
I grew up in Setauket, New York loving and playing all sports and especially baseball and softball. My organized softball career started at eighteen while playing in the Stony Brook University League followed by playing for the Park Bench in the Smithtown Bar League. I have been a player in the Brookhaven Town League since 1982, and a player manager since 2005. As a manager my teams have always competed in the best division and we have compiled a winning percentage of over 800 with seventeen league championships and sixteen playoff championships in both open leagues and Over 40. I also played for Fellingham's in both the Southampton and Riverhead leagues and won multiple league and playoff championships.
I have been an active tournament player since 1984 and still am today. The teams that I have played for include The Cobras, Mikes Place, Leisure Bowl, The Coliseum/ Landmark Grill, Mutual Financial, Superior Softball Club, The Riddlers, Suffolk County Corrections, The Suffolk County Lawmen, Sweet Construction 55's and 60"s, and Giant Steel/Swift Tech. Highlights include multiple All World/ All Tournament selections and several top five finishes in USSSA National and Regional tournaments. In Law Enforcement Tournaments we won the back to back championships in Toronto competing the Competitive Division with Suffolk County Corrections and also the 2009 Masters Division in the National Police Championship with the Suffolk County Lawmen.
It is truly a great honor to receive this prestigious award. To have known Rick Marz and the first recipient to receive this award Steve Barkan makes it that much more special. Thank you to the HOF committee and all the lifelong friends that I have made being a part of this great game. I also especially have to thank my wife Elyse for putting up with over forty years of softball and my two children Melanie and Matthew and grandchildren Eli and Liana
