Jim Dunn

Elected : USSSA New York Hall Of Fame in 2014
Inducted : March 2015, Islandia, NY  

     Jim grew up on the north shore of Long Island and attended Port Jefferson High School.  As a three sport athlete, he was a member of the football, baseball, and track teams.  Jim joined the Northern Brookhaven Softball League in 1971 and played in the program for 25 plus years.

     Over the pat 40 years, Jim has successfully owned several restaurants and sports bars that sponsored men’s softball teams that Jim played on, managed, and coached.  He has also sponsored women’s teams that play in multiple leagues and divisions. 

      In the early 1990’s, Jim sponsored several highly ranked men’s softball teams in the area, earning numerous titles in the USSSA men’s class C division.  His teams traveled throughout the Northeast and Mid Atlantic divisions winning multiple state and divisional championships.  He is currently managing and sponsoring the Benchwarmers Tavern and Grill softball teams in the men’s over 40, over 50, and over 60 programs in the towns of Brookhaven and Riverhead, as well as a women’s team in Brookhaven.

      Jim plans to remain an active participant and sponsor in the local leagues for many years to come.  He would like to thank the New York State USSSA and the Town of Brookhaven for the honor of his induction into the New York State USSSA Hall of Fame.  He will always cherish the friendships and memories created over the years bt these organizations.
