John Davide

Throughout his 35-year career, John Davide competed in USSSA open and Masters softball, playing for four major teams—County Sports, York Barbell, Bombat, and Computerland—and seven prominent Masters teams including Ma Grundy’s, Dan Smith, NY Statemen, Fergie’s, Mavericks, Turn Two/Reco, Thermco, and Sports Therapy. He participated in eleven National Championship tournaments, winning six USSSA National titles, and earned six first team All-Tournament honors along with first team recognition in both Eastern Regional events he entered (1978 and 1981).

John also played in three World Series (Major in 1978 and 1986, A in 1981), as well as two USSSA Church World Tournaments (1979 and 1980). In 1983, he was named MVP and First Team All-Tournament at the NY State Class B championship. His Major NIT appearances include Steeles’ in 1985 and two in 1986 (Petersburg, VA, and Salt Lake City, UT), where he again received All-Tournament honors.

In the Masters Division, John contributed to ten state championships over eleven seasons across two teams: Ma Grundys (FL) secured five titles in six years, while K-plan Tel (NY) captured five straight championships. During this run, John made all five tournament teams and took home an MVP award.

 

Locally, in the Smithtown and Brookhaven Leagues, he played on twenty-nine league and playoff championship teams. Over his entire career, John accumulated numerous home run, RBI, and MVP awards, finishing with more than 1,100 home runs and approximately 3,500 RBIs.
