In May of 1971, Jack joined the Metro Umpires Association (MAU) of Rochester and continued to umpire until 1993. During that time, he monitored and participated in umpiring clinics, rules interpretation and on field evaluation of new umpires.
He expanded his officiating coverage to the Rochester Major Fast Pitch League as well as umpiring in the Babe Ruth and American Legion hardball travel leagues. In the off season he covered basketball, volleyball, flag football and soccer.
From 1976 - 1982, Jack was the Assistant NYS Director of Women’s softball and the Director from 1983-1989. This position allowed him to be the voting delegate at the USSSA National Conventions for over 10 years.
Working as an umpire he covered many National as well as World tournaments across the US, including the USSSA World Series in 1976 (Rochester, NY) and 1989 (Long Beach, CA). To complete his umpiring run, he was invited to the former Soviet Union, in 1991 to umpire in a cultural exchange program sponsored by the USSSA.
Jack currently lives in Hilton, NY with his wife, Roseanne, and spends most of his free time with his granddaughter, Sammi Jo.
