James Kimble

James was born with a twin brother on December 16, 1945 in Yazoo City Mississippi, where he attended the Yazoo City High School. At the young age of 18, he moved to Rochester. After arriving in Rochester, James held positions with several area employers such as, Pfaulders, Kodak, and General Railway Signal. In the early 70's he began working for the City of Rochester, were he retired from in 2001.

In his 30 plus years of umpiring, James has umpired with some of the best umpire's which are no longer with us, Tommy Castle and Tony Coco, from whom he learned many things about being an umpire. There are four Kimble brothers in Rochester, all of which have umpired for USSSA umpire organizations.

James started umpiring with the Metro Umpires Association, which was the original USSSA umpires group. In 1998, James joined the Sports Officials of the Rochester Area (SORA) to continue his USSSA umpiring experience. He has been able to travel all over the country to umpire USSSA events, including several World Tournaments. He has work at Disney for the last five years umpiring all levels of World Tournament play, including the Mens 'B', 'C', 'D' and 'E' divisions, and Womens 'B' and 'C'. James has also worked the Military World Series and the Black American World Tournament several times. He gets the most enjoyment out of his time traveling with other members of SORA and the great friendships that he has made with umpires and directors from all over the country, especially John Hart and Rick Robertson.
