Mike Zales

Mike Zales was born and raised in the western suburbs of Syracuse, N.Y.  He has three children; Kevin, Brett and Allison, and a grand-dog Avalanche.

Mike graduated from Westhill High School in 1967, and went on to receive his Associates Degree in Mechanical Technology from SUNY Morrisville College. Mike was employed by Carrier Corporation for 45 years, retiring in May, 2014. Mike held various positions, mostly in the fields of production and service marketing. While working, he received his Bachelor’s Degree from SUNY Empire State College in 2000.

Mike enjoyed playing softball in the Carrier Recreation League and began umpiring in 1975.  Beside umpiring softball, Mike coached and refereed youth basketball for several years. 

He retired from active umpiring in 2015 after his wife Lisa lost her long-fought battle to cancer. Mike’s hobbies include watching SU football and basketball, traveling south to Florida, landscaping and listening to live music.  He has had a DJ Entertainment business since 2004.
