Elected : USSSA New York Hall Of Fame in 2007
Inducted : March 2008, Syracuse, NY
Bob's affiliation with the USSSA began in 1980. He served as an umpire and then on the Board of Directors serving many terms as secretary, and is currently the UIC for CNY Umpires. Being a USSSA official has enabled him to stay involved in a sport that he truly loves. Bob started playing fast-pitch in the early 70's. Then with the growth of slow-pitch, he played for several teams in the Syracuse area. However, after many injuries, Bob wanted to stay in the game and decided to give umpiring a try. Bob has umpired on the local, state and regional levels, as well as umpiring at the World Tournament in Orlando.
He retired in 2001 after teaching 32 years in the Liverpool School District. He helped form the Liverpool Optimist Youth Basketball League which has over 1000 boys and girls. He has also served as Club President, Lt. Governor, and served a one year term as Governor of the NY District Optimist International.
Currently you can find him at Beaver Lake Nature Center in Baldwinsville, NY. He enjoys guiding school groups and sharing his knowledge of the environment with students of all ages. He also an active member and serves on their Board of Directors. He is also loves to go fishing on his pontoon boat with his wife Patti on Oneida Lake.
Bob would like to thank the USSSA and the CNY Umpires and Officers for their support. Together we have made our association the 'Number One' softball umpiring organization in Central New York.
