Steve Susco

Elected : USSSA New York Hall Of Fame in 2005
Inducted : April 2006, Ronkonkoma, NY.

It is with great pride that Steve joins long time friend and fellow umpire Michael 'Whitey' Fonak in the New York State USSSA Hall of Fame. Steve started his umpiring career more than 65 years ago. Steve worked baseball for over 55 years and softball for over 60 years. Born on September 11, 1918, Steve is an Army veteran of WWII and a first generation Italian American. Due to a stroke in 2003, Steve was forced to temporally give up umpiring but he remains a member of the C.N.Y. Softball Umpires Association and serves on the Executive Board.

Steve's officiating career goes beyond baseball and softball, as he was a professional hockey official working the NAHL and EHL. Steve's biggest support continues to come from his 3 sons and 4 grandchildren. Steve retired after working 16 years at General Motors followed by 37 years working for Onondaga County.

As Steve approaches his 88th birthday, he continues to bowl in a weekly recreation league and remains active in his community of Solvay, New York.
