Tom Guercio

Elected : USSSA New York Hall Of Fame in 2005
Inducted : April 2006, Ronkonkoma, NY.

Tom began umpiring in 1969 at the age of 18 doing American Legion Baseball for $ 8.00 per game. In 1975 he moved to Long Island and continued his softball umpiring. In 1978 and 1979 he was fortunate enough to work the finals in a 6-man crew during the USSSA Labor Day B & C tournaments held in Smithtown, New York.

In 1980, Tom was named the Metro Long Island USSSA Umpire in Chief, which is a job that he truly loved. Tom has travel throughout New York teaching USSSA umpires as U-I-C, his umpiring school has produced many of the USSSA umpires in New York State.

In 1994 he had the privilege of doing the plate in the final games of the 'C' World Tournament held in the Town of Brookhaven on Long Island.

The 2006 season will be Tom's 27th year as U-I-C and 38th year of umpiring, and Tom is looking forward to it with more excitement than ever.
